The Prime Minister says the first flight carrying Asylum Seekers to rwanda will leave in 10 to 12 weeks time come what may. He says an airfield is on standby and charter planes are booked. Rishi sunak had originally promised the first flight would take off this spring, but his timetable now suggests a delay until the summer. He says peers and mps will have to sit through the night tonight if necessary to pass the governments controversial rwanda legislation. Our political correspondent, helen catt is in westminster. Helen. New statistics out this morning show one of the reasons why rishi sunak might be so keen to get those flights off soon, last Year Parliament passed a law that said that some asylum cases could only be dealt with by being removed from the uk. But they cant go to rwanda because the Supreme Court ruled it was unsafe and there are now nearly 52,000 Asylum Seekers whose claims simply cant be dealt with here. So what the government did to try and get around this last year
Started shedding its parts. Now, apparently other drivers on the highway had seen that this truck was having trouble. They had seen that this stuff that there was stuff hanging off of this truck. They saw how dangerous it was. Other drivers had tried to signal to the driver of the truck to let him know something was wrong, but the truck driver didnt respond appropriately, didnt seem to do anything in response to these alerts from other drivers. Ultimately, a piece of his tail Light Assembly fell off his truck at speed on the highway. And it bounced on the road, and it bounced underneath the van that was carrying the Willis Family. And that piece of that truck became shrapnel. And it punctured the gas tank of the van, and the van went up in a fireball. Five of the six kids were killed instantly in the fireball. The sixth child who was the eldest, and he was only 13, he died hours later. He died the next day. The parents were severely burned. But they survived. Just an unbelievable trage
we don t want, you know, any more squads that are short, that can t fulfil fixtures because half of them have got covid. liverpool bossjurgen klopp s expressed frustration with unvaccinated footballers, but today, after weeks of secrecy, the premier league revealed 68% of players are now fully protected, with 81% having had at least one jab. well, that s brilliant. i mean, that s a massive leap forward, isn t it, from where we were. and i can say here, that at boston united, of the total players and support staff, 90% now are double vaccinated. so, we re in a very strong position, and i ve had the privilege of vaccinating a couple players myself. despite the recent improvement, football here still lags behind top us professional sports, where full vaccination rates are above 90% and unprotected athletes have been subject to stricter protocols. why do you think it s taking longer here in the premier league? i worry about, you know, the influence of social media and the influence of untr
here in the premier league? i worry about, you know, the influence of social media and the influence of untrusted sources. of course it s disappointing when you see things like that, but i think the latest data that you ve just given me on the premier league show that that tide is now very clearly turning. but what about the fans? from this week, in scotland, those going to events with over 10,000 attending have to have been vaccinated. these celtic supporters this afternoon, the first to be asked for proof before entering. so could it happen in england? it s clearly out there as an option, inasmuch that scotland has now already applied that rule. you know, i think we have to see what this winter is going to bring us. it could be very difficult. in tennis, meanwhile, unvaccinated players are unlikely to be allowed to take part injanuary s australian open. defending champion novak djokovic, who s refused to reveal if he s been jabbed,
why do they have to crush people, accuse them of being they have ats if different view? if they were doing their job, their job is to educate voters, not tos tell voters or to pigeonhole voters or to vilify voters for expressing their discontent with two parties that have thrown them under the bus. in the last election we had two candidates for the most disliked and untrusted in modern history and 75% of voters were screaming for open debates, they wanted to hear from the libertarian and the green, they wanted to hear a debate about, for example, our war machine, which is going full speed ahead right now. the last tax day the average taxpayer gave over $3500 practically to the war machine and $40 to the epa to give us clean air and water. how was that working out for a schematic not soso well. this needs to be debated.
