Expressing serious concerns regarding road accidents, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari highlighted various measures undertaken to address this issue. He pointed out that road accidents result from multiple factors, including over-speeding, mobile phone usage, drunken driving, driving on the wrong side or lane, indiscipline, jumping red lights, non-use of safety devices like helmets and seat belts, vehicular condition, weather conditions, road conditions, and faults of drivers, cyclists, or pedestrians.
Kolar MP S Muniswamy said, “An action plan has been prepared to widen the road, addressing the existing blackspots. The project is estimated at Rs 4,200 crore, covering an elevated highway from KR Puram to Kolathur, featuring around 60-80 underpasses until Nagali (the border of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh).”
