attack on the u.s. capitol in january 6th. the defendants include former head of the organization, whose lawyer blamed the capitol attack on donald trump s incitement in closing arguments this week. as we head into an election season, where the former president is once again on the ballot, what message would can evictions in this case send? well, this is the most serious case to come out of the january 6th insurrection so far, this is seditious conspiracy. and if there is a conviction, that adds to the case that this was a very serious attack on the government, the federal government, and on the united states itself. that was egged on by trump. and the u.s. attorney has made clear to the judge, they also include and intend to bring 1000 more cases. that would be twice as many as
violence and develop contingency plans to certify the election results. i want to bring in dana zachary cohen. you have been reporting on this, what stands out to you? walk us through this. yeah. like i mentioned, this footage is extraordinary. for the first time we can see with our own eyes inside the secure location where they took top congressional lawmakers after they evacuated them from the u.s. capitol in january 6th. i think most of all there was a moment captured where house speaker nancy pelosi is on the phone with then-vice president mike pence who is still hunkered down in a secure location at the u.s. capitol. they re on the phone talking about contingency plans. how are we going to vote to certify the 2020 election while rioters are bearing down on mike pence s location. so take a listen because it is a remarkable moment. we met earlier can you we will not get the capitol cleared out for two, three days. we should do it here.
