but if it s left to the discretion of the justice department, then you re leaving it to the discretion of the prosecutors and i wouldn t leave anything to the discretion of prosecutors. barr sawed he didn t know about a leak investigation into lawmakers. trump didn t know but in a moment from his testimony when he was being confirmed. this is then senator and now kamala harris questioning barr. has the president or anyone at the white house ever asked or suggest you open an investigation of anyone? i wouldn t yes or no? could you repeat that question. i will repeat. yeah. has the president or anyone at the white house ever asked or suggested that you open an investigation of anyone, yes or no, please, sir. the president or anybody else. seems you d remember something like that and be able to tell us. yeah, but i m trying to
focus on what president trump didn t know, because there s plenty of other information that is actually incredibly damaging, but that s basically what they ve outlined as their objective for today. and we also have what president trump did say on the summary of the phone call right here. it s helpful to read out loud. i can do it. i can read it. call the attorney general. whatever you can do with the attorney general would be great. biden went around bragging he stopped the prosecution, so if you could look into it, it sounds horrible to me. that was said out loud and recorded. it is the perfect call. you know what i m watching and who i m watching today is jim jordan? republican from ohio who wasn t on the intelligence committee a week ago. he was put there by republican leadership for a purpose. now, in theory he gets his five minutes in the afternoon. but you would think just by the fact they went through these back flips to get him on there, they want him to have a bigger rol
gotten, in fact, that 40% cut in their taxes. of course you and i are enjoying the same 40% cut, right, pal? yeah, exactly. there is not much more that they want or are going to get out of donald trump and so they re going to look to their other interests. one of them is disruption. what is one of the principal things you don t want in business? uncertainty. and donald is full of uncertainty. he s doing this, no, he s doing that. oh, there is a secret agreement you never heard about. this all breeds uncertainty and trouble. and i think you re going to see more large businesses stepping back from trump and looking at their own interests and whether he s acting against them as donald becomes more and more erratic. david, always good to see you. thank you for joining me. david cay johnston. all right. jared kushner is in charge of some of the trump administration s most sensitive foreign policy issues. now a new report says a company that he partly owns gone $90 million from unkno
it seemed that what s going on here, looking at the totality of the circumstances, is that president trump felt threatened by robert mueller. he felt threatened by him even though there was no ultimate finding of a crime of conspiracy, at the time the investigation was going on, president trump didn t know that was going to be the outcome. in fact, he was aware of numerous contacts with russia that may be exposed. there was also the matter of michael cohen s payments to a woman to buy her silence before the election. all of those things could have been things that motivated president trump. so there are things other than the crime that the investigator is looking at that could motivate a person to try to end an investigation, and under the law they are equally prohibited. meanwhile, republicans on the committee spent most of their time challenging john dean s credibility, pointing to his guilty plea in the watergate
johnston, founder of dcreport.org. david, there is truth in what the president says. the chamber of commerce is not an organization representative of ordinary working americans and there are actual issues with international trade, but where it came to mexico, the president took a pretty good strong working relationship with a neighbor and ally and used it in a way we don t traditionally use what is normally a carrot. well, you ll notice here that the biggest business organizations like the chamber, which represents large corporations primarily, are treating mexico very differently than china. and in this case, trump has created a problem by getting people from central america to come now for fear the border will be closed forever. he has reached an agreement way back in december, which was a good thing that he got an agreement, and now claims this is all new. it s nonsense. and claims there are secret
