fauci, can you explain why you call this a folly decision? travel bands are not something i ve ever supported and didn t during the prior administration and not during this administration because when you talk about officially spreading respiratory virus, it s going to be everywhere by the time you discover it and it s already shown to be the case, this is spreading in countries like the netherlands even before in south africa and what the travel ban does is a false sense of security and let s politicians do something but in the end it punishes countries that are diligent and reporting and alerting the world to the variant while excluding other countries without any major regions and the travel ban is leaky. now we know this is everywhere and we are going to expect to see it in different places, community spread in the netherlands and new york state, it doesn t justify the travel ban being in place so we have to
rapidly banning travelers from parts of africa. they say to curb the spread of the variant. now thousands are likely stranded. in the airport in amsterdam, hundreds of passengers from south africa forced to sit on the tarmac for hours after landing. then crowding in a covid testing site after the netherlands bans travel from south africa. the international air transport association saying restrictions are not a long-term solution. they already lost billions to the pandemic. anger in south africa where officials call the bans draconian, kneejerk measures. what i find so disgusting and really distressing actually from here was not just the travel ban being implemented by the uk and europe but that that was the only reaction or the the strongest reaction. and there was no word of the
some remarks. they held a round table. but there is not a whole lot happening. then to have something like this, it just further lays bare just how disingenuous that commitment is. we talked all about the vetting. i don t know the president has ever really accepted that his style, his management style is responsible for a lot of the problems that he s creating for himself, his administration, his aides. it s not just with personnel. it s not just this nominee, not just scott pruitt and the drip, drip, drip of allegations. it s also the policy agenda he s trying to implement. there is another story in the news we re probably not going to get much time to talk about today, but that s the travel ban being in the courts. that was never sufficiently lawyered. it was just thrown out there and that is the reason that is not being implemented. so there is across the board on personnel, and policy, on everything else, the knee jerk sort of impulsive go with the gut style of this president is ha
