the house behind me. helena, thank you. a 34 year old woman has become the first in the uk to be given a transplanted womb. she was born without a uterus because of a rare medical condition. then her older sister who already has children offered to donate her womb for the transplant operation. it is a procedure has already been carried out successfully in other countries, as our medical editor fergus walsh reports. a remarkable gift from one sister to another, enabling surgeons here to transplant a womb into a 34 year old woman, donated by her ao year old sibling. the surgery, in next door operating theatres at the churchill hospital in oxford in february, lasted around 17 hours. it was an amazing day. absolutely amazing. these two surgeons led a team of more than 30. they recalled the reaction of the younger sister when she came round.
