Officials: People generally stick to the law when using fireworks

Officials: People generally stick to the law when using fireworks The Daily Telegram Some may think it’s noisy in their neighborhoods around July 4, but representatives of police departments and cities in Lenawee County say people who are lighting up fireworks are generally sticking to the rules.  Some cities have their own ordinances, but they mostly mimic state law, which is Michigan Public Act 256 of 2011, the Michigan Fireworks Safety Act:  “It shall be unlawful for any person to ignite discharge or use consumer fireworks at any time except on the day preceding, the day of, or the day after a national holiday. No person shall ignite, discharge or use consumer fireworks between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. of the day preceding, the day of, or the day after a national holiday consistent with Section 7(2) of Public Act 256 of 2011.”
