DEEP Approves $1.59 Million In Pollution-Reducing Grants

Reply March 3, 2021 The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) today announced the release of more than $1.59 million in Diesel Emission Reduction Act (DERA) grants to support the state s efforts to reduce diesel pollution and advance electrification of medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. Subscribe The 14 projects awarded will mitigate 82.2 tons of smog forming nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions over the lifetime of the projects. The projects will also remove over 3,908 tons of climate-warming carbon dioxide (CO2). Additionally, a total of 5.5 tons of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and 5.4 tons of fine particulate matter, which contributes to asthma and other bronchial conditions, will be removed from communities across Connecticut, some of which bear a disproportionate share of Connecticut s air pollution.

On Friday, January 15,  New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker and 27 of his counterparts, executive officeholders from across Connecticut, sent a letter advocating that Gov. Ned Lamont includes in his budget the necessary funding to implement a tiered Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) program. West Hartford Grand List Shows Slight Increase

Reply WEST HARTFORD, CT West Hartford s grand list of taxable property has increased slightly. The numbers were released Friday. The grand list represents the values of taxable property effective Oct. 1, 2020 has been finalized in accordance with Connecticut General Statutes. It is used, in part, to calculate the revenue side of the annual budget. The overall increase was 0.44 percent, assessor Joseph Dakers said. The net assessed value of all taxable property prior to Board of Assessment Appeal revisions totals $6,396,112,211. That s an increase for the net taxable list of $27,783,867.
