mayfield looks like this. you can see the rubble behind me. it really does look like a bomb went off all throughout this town, not just in that one area. as you go through the town, we re on the corner of eighth and broadway, right next to the courthouse here, but you can hardly tell that s where we are because every corner looks the same. you just have these downed poles everywhere and trees and debris, and this is the power line here. there s no power anywhere in this city. that is a big problem because it is so cold. that means people don t have heat. if you are still in your house and buried under all of this, how can someone find you and hear your cries and get you out. that s what makes this storm so dangerous, so deadly, specially this time of year. we spoke with a woman who was in her home in mayfield when the tornadoed happened, and this is her story of survival. this was my home until last
chair of the committee telling us this this afternoon. we have received exceptionally interesting and important documents from a number of witnesses, including mark meadows. he s tornadoed over many texts from his private cell phone from six. then she goes to what we said at the top, do not be misled. this is what we understand a letter from chairman penny thompson to mr. meadows attorney, a november 7, 2020 email discussing the appointment of alternate legislators. another email providing options for january 6th that was to be provided on the hill. and among others, a january 5th 2021 email about having the national guard on stand by. it sounds like from the document production from mark meadows they have at a minimum a ton of really important leads about
a resident described to knbc, the terrifying scene as he rode i could hear it was over us. and i saw my bedroom just leave. it was gone. we were underneath the one part of the house that didn t get taken. we knew it was coming. i just didn t i just hoped it wouldn t come right me. it did. i feel lucky i m alive. a tornado in lawrence, kansas, injured at least 15 in according to the douglas county health dew point even in the northeast an area not acustomed to tornadoed were hit tuesday. the national weather service confirmed a tornado in burke s county, in eastern pennsylvania. nobody injured. we ve been so blessed. it s when you drive around and see the destruction, you really realize how lucky we are that nobody was hurt. a band of severe weather
and then there s the flooding. the arkansas river overtalks oklahoma and arkansas. many thousands forced to evacuate. we have team fox coverage. matt finn reporting from fort smith, arkansas. first, mike tobin live on scene in dayton. mike? shep, the national weather service confirmed that one of the tornadoed touched down, measured up to the ef-3 on the fujita scale. as you mentioned, more than 50 tornadoes whipped up. stands to reason some were touched down in populated areas. that s what happened here, eight miles north of dayton. the home behind me was obliterated while the people went inside and went to seek shelter. john barber stayed up late to watch the local news. he heard the warnings. he woke up his wife and this is what he saw. it went on. seemed like forever.
head ultimately? where does it look like now? reporter: well, after it makes landfall, is going to continue to head north and planning on significant flooding inland locations. southern alabama could see 6-10 inches of rain. we could see flooding in georgia, alabama, the rest of the state of florida as well as tennessee, south carolina, and so flooding is going to be a concern as well as tornadoed you mentioned. we are on the lookout for tornados from panama beach to the big bend of florida. appreciate it. stay safe as always. also, there s a storm in maryland where first responders are looking for a missing man, after rescuing 30 people this morning because of historic flash flooding. this 39-year-old sergeant was swept away trying to rescue a woman s cat. the flood waters carried parked cars down main street s record levels of rain bursting into homes and businesses. take a look at the building on
