It is fair to say they were ten hard lying principles on the subject. This was the most hard lined speech on immigration we have heard a Major Party Nominee deliver in the modern era. The more specific challenge for trump last night was this. Hes losing right now. Hes losing in this race. He is behind Hillary Clinton nationally. He is behind her in the battleground states. Theres a very specific reason why hes behind her. When you break down all the numbers, theres one group of voters who have always been there for republican president ial candidates going back generations now. Those voters have been seriously turned off by donald trump in this campaign. He has been running at fatally low levels of support with them. He needs to turn that around if hes going to have a chance in november. The group im talking about is actually white voters. More specifically, talking White College educated voters. Upscale economically. Reps have never, never lost this group in a president ial election.
