Local DIY promoter Vaughn Mims cannot stress enough how important it is to establish rules, set up sound proofing, get a good system and take door donations when organizing a house show. Now that he s setting up Bucket Brigade on Oct. 8 at George s Majestic Lounge, he doesn t have to worry about rules.

Rufus and Martha Wainwright are extremely happy to announce the date and some details for their annual Christmas show, “A Not So Silent Night,” to take place at The Town Hall on December 22. The Bill Frisell Five and Ambrose Akinmusire s Owl Song will be featured at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Faulkner Performing Arts Center. Tickets are free for campus members and $25 for general public.
On Oct. 14 at The Theatre at Ace Hotel, Bill Frisell and Ambrose Akinmusire join forces for an evening of collaboration and improvisation. Frisell will be joined by FIVE while Akinmusire will perform with his ensemble Owl Song.
