As a new York City Police man, 1853, he was assigned to work the Crystal Palace exhibition. It became known as the first worlds fair. He was introduced to pinkerton, a scottish immigrant who had started his own Detective Agency. In the 1850s, the Detective Agency laid the foundation for what would become the most important Detective Agency ever. It focused on criminal matters and was often employed by government agencies.
