Said play football, the picture has changed when it comes to women s sport. it gets much more coverage in the media. it s much more encouraged, certainly at schools for women to get involved in sport. how do you see it for young women and girls now compared to the journey that lucy had? well, it s a differentjourney. to be fair, there was no such thing as a professional female footballer when lucy started, and i don t ever believe that football would be such a vehicle for equality. but wow, how that s changed in the last 20 years. well, i think she was in her early 20s when she looked at her mum one day and said, i think i might be able to play football all the time and not have to get a properjob. yes. have you have you spoken to her much while she s been out in sydney? a couple of times facetime.
