68 percent of news website readers are first-time visitors: Piano 2021-04-26. Don’t underestimate the power of email, which is 2.5 times more effective in acquiring subscribers than users going directly to site (and don’t be afraid to ask readers to pay!), says Piano. | April 26, 2021 The humble email is proving to be an important marketing tool for news publishers. Figures disclosed by Piano during WAN-IFRA’s recent Asian Media Leaders eSummit showed that emails – whether direct from publisher or containing links shared by others – had a 0.62 percent conversion rate, higher than direct access (0.24 percent), referral by Google e.g. Google Search, Google News (0.16 percent) or Facebook (0.06 percent) methods.

Rompfest to feature bluegrass musicians from Bedford, Lexington

Wicked Local In June, 30,000 or so people will gather on a hillside at Yellow Creek Park in  Owensboro, Kentucky for the annual Rompfest, a four-day festival of bluegrass music.  Owensboro is home to the international Bluegrass Hall of Fame, which sponsors the show and the festival brings out some of the biggest names - Ricky Skaggs and Rhonda Vincent have played past festivals. Last summer, the pandemic nixed the festivities, but this year s lineup includes Dan Tyminski COVID willing. If all goes to plan, the lineup will include Stoneface Mountain, made up of Megan and Audrey Mendenhall of Bedford, Ellie and Mary Strano of Lexington and Jack Bram and Tommy van der Laan, also of Lexington.
