'Dune' director slams AT&T's decision to release films on HBO Max

Warner Bros. is owned by WarnerMedia, which is part of the telecommunications giant. In his article, Villeneuve called the release strategy “a desperate attempt to grab the audience’s attention.” Villeneuve did not hold back at all, and the article is filled with searing criticism of the carrier and the studio. He wrote that “even though Dune is about cinema and audiences, AT&T is about its own survival on Wall Street,” adding that “there is absolutely no love for cinema, nor for the audience here.” He also called HBO Max “a failure thus far.”
