THE crown courts will always get a lot of coverage for having the most serious criminal cases come through them. But along with the crown courts, magistrates courts have been continuing to process the other types of crimes throughout the pandemic. While some of these cases are not as serious as the ones in crown court, they still require punishment and in places prison sentences. Here is a list of people sentenced at Chelmsford, Basildon and Southend Magistrates Courts between March 26 and now. Carl Churchley, 32, of Chancellor Road, Southend appeared at Basildon Magistrates Court where he admitted breaching his community order by failing to comply with his curfew or give a valid reason for doing so.
