Report: High-speed rail could be the future of Washington travel by Callie Craighead, SeattlePI
A high-speed rail line connecting the Cascadia corridor Oregon, Washington and British Columbia has been floated by policymakers before, but a new report from the Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and submitted to the state legislature could be giving the project some legs.
The 2020 Framework for the Future report outlined the next steps government entities need to take if they want to make the rail a reality. The report laid out multiple options including a traditional high-speed rail, magnetic levitation trains or a hyperloop, a new method of transportation where floating pods travel inside giant low-pressure tubes.
