Tom Keefe III EDWARDSVILLE A patient s wife is suing St. Anthony s Medical Center and medical staff, claiming they failed to prevent her husband s cardiac arrest and respiratory failure.  Laurie Mooney, as special administrator of the Estate of Keith Scherff, filed a complaint Jan. 5 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Pankaj Kaul, M.D., CEP America LLC, Naveenkumar Krishna, M.D., St. Anthony s Medical Center and others, alleging wrongful death.  Mooney alleges in her complaint that her husband, Keith Scherff, received negligent care from the defendants on Jan. 6, 2020, while being treated at St. Anthony s Medical Center, which allegedly resulted in his death. Specifically, Mooney alleges that the defendants were negligent for continuing to give massive amounts of IV fluids to Scherff even though he was developing congestive heart failure and pulmonary edema. Suit alleges truck driver caused multi-vehicle crash

BELLEVILLE A truck driver is accused of negligently veering into another lane while traveling on Interstate 55, allegedly causing a multi-vehicle crash.  Bridgette Ebersoldt and Kevin Ebersoldt filed a complaint Dec. 7 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Merrell Enterprises LLC, Ernest Lumley and Richard Snyder, alleging negligence.  According to the compliant, the Ebersoldts were driving south on Interstate 55 in St. Clair County on Dec. 15, 2018. The plaintiffs allege Lumley, who was a truck driver for Merrell Enterprises, steered his truck into their lane causing their vehicle to spin in front of the truck and across two lanes of traffic. The plaintiffs vehicle was then hit by Snyder s vehicle. 

Patient alleges surgeon, nurse practitioner failed to diagnose, treat elbow fractures

Pixabay BELLEVILLE A couple is alleging an orthopedic surgeon and a nurse practitioner failed to properly diagnose the husband s elbow fractures which led to permanent disability and disfigurement.  Robert Paul and Annette Paul filed a complaint Dec. 3 in the Twentieth Judicial Circuit for St. Clair County against Physician Services Corporation of Southern Illinois Inc., Craig Beyer, M.D., and Dana Trame, APRN-CNP alleging negligence.  According to the complaint, Beyer and Trame are employed by Physician Services and provided care for Robert Paul for treatment of a fractured elbow on Oct. 25, 2018, and on Nov. 15, 2018. The Pauls allege in their suit that the defendants failed to timely diagnose his bilateral fractures which caused him to require other surgeries and to suffer permanent bilateral contractures.
