Fall River police say too many drivers ignore year-old hands-free law

And police say that’s not a good thing. For those drivers who continue to flout the state’s year-old hands-free, electronic device law, the message from the Fall River Police Department’s Motor Vehicle Enforcement Unit is simple: You will be given a citation if they catch you in the act. It was Feb. 23, 2020 when An Act Requiring the Hands-Free Use of Mobile Telephones While Driving went into effect three months after being signed into law by Gov. Charlie Baker. A month later, in late March, the governor ordered all non-essential businesses to close as a precautionary measure to stem the spread of COVID-19.
