confirmed by the u.s. senate as the new u.s. attorney for massachusetts. now, before this, she was the suffolk county d.a. in the commonwealth of massachusetts. and as it turns out, there s an instance that for whatever reason, we re just now finding out about, where it sounds like on christmas eve or while christmas shopping, a person up in massachusetts crossed cars with her, and she essentially got out and chewed her out. ainsley: this girl s name is katie lawson. and the local news crew there, the fox crew, fox 25, they heard from katie lofton. she says i was shopping christmas eve at this mall. and our cars, we were both trying to merge together into the same parking area, and we had a confrontation. this is what katie lofton told that local news crew back in january. keep in mind, this was a year ago. this is what she told the local
this girl s life when he responded to a routine 911 call. dispatched to a shoplifter at the family dollar. we get there. we go inside and 12-year-old girl. she s crying, bawl iing tears everywhere. she s upset she s been caught stealing. reporter: that 12-year-old girl, the oldest child of six was caught stealing a cheap pair of shoes. she thought she was going to jail. she was trying to steal the shoes for her 5-year-old sister. me being me, officer discretion, i can t put her in the system for that. i d rather just take her home and see what s going on. reporter: officer milton drove her a half mile back home. that s when i saw the conditions. it was very rough for her. i pulled on my heart strings, no food in the house, not much furniture. they didn t have any beds. reporter: from a law enfo enforcement family and only four days on the job with the atlanta police department, officer
to be at this school, so part of this story you re going to tell is not just sadly we lost rebecca, but someone else was saved. that s true. we were there shooting the story on anti-bullying, which is such a coincidence we happened to be there. so odd. but the day after rebecca killed herself, someone came up to jalen s mom, who we re going to talk about, and she said i have a question. who can i ask? she said, i ll be right back, get someone to answer your question. she said, something wasn t right about that. she went back, and her son jalen, who is 13, this other girl is 13, confided in her son she was planning on killing herself, tuesday night, the very day after rebecca killed herself. jalen said, don t do it. please don t. we ll get you the help. they were able to step in and intervene and save this girl s life and who knows how many others. incredible. all the way around incredible. parents are thinking what can we do? what can we do?
a private college for the first two years she ll be taking basic classes. nothing that applies to her major and she ll have to take out loans to cover what we can t pay. should she go to a less expensive college to get those courses out of the way and then transfer? thank you, lisa, for bothering to parent your 18-year-old. this is a brilliant mom. she s speaking into this girl s life and going this doesn t make economic sense. you cannot afford to drive a new mercedes. you re getting a 1994 dodge neon. this is the money that we have. so you make choices based on your budget and education like you do everything else and please, parents, have a backbone and speak into the 17, the 18-year-old s life because they re going to wake up at 32 with 100 grand in student loan debt if you don t give them some common sense guidance. so yes! do something different than take out student loans. go to the community college. all right. very interesting. i hope we helped some people out. a lot of pe
