Welcome back everybody. the devastation hurricane identify a left is making life difficult for millions of americans across this country. in louisiana widespread damage to the power grid is causing outages and some residents may not get power back until the end of september. joining me is vaughn hilliard. thanks for hanging with us through the rain there. they could not use more rain. that is for darn sure. what do you see in the wake of recovery efforts? cleanup efforts as the situation there remains pretty horrific with some folks without electricity? right. you said it. there is no wind here right now either. it s sweltering heat, humidity. it was 95 trees earlier or just here in the last 20 minutes the rain starts to come down. in lafitte, essentially you have what a standing swamp. water and mud here.

Rain there that s falling across parts of kentucky and towards tennessee and move closer there, severe weather overnight and we had four inches of rain in st. louis, causing significant flooding and if anyone out there has any pictures of the weather going on around the area. send them to me, i m rick reichmuth at twitter and facebook page and reports of pretty significant flooding in the st. louis area and rocked by so many storms. in across north dakota and talking about the flooding around minot. more rain coming in the area today and some could be severe unfortunately. a couple of other stories going on, one is down across parts of the south in arizona and watching the fires for weeks and here you go, the fire danger back up again today. windy and dry and all of the areas have red flag warnings and lastly, texas, you are blazing and every day so far this month has been average, and today, amarillo, look at that, 111. clayton we normally say phoenix in the high temperature and not t
Gusts yesterday. this is a powerful storm. and it encompasses everyone in the way of rain and snow. and it s a good thing we didn t have a tremendous amount of fire activity last summer. but even from the 2009 summer season, there s going to be areas that will probably see some sliding because of all of the rain there. not a whole lot of action across the east coast. seeing a little bit of snowfall eastern massachusetts that could have been, but thankfully wasn t. the temperatures in the 20s, rising to the 30s today. we re fairly quiet here. actually, east of the mississippi tonight, with a good viewing of the total lunar eclipse. and basically between 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. eastern time. and go out and find the moon, give a howl if you like. and you ll see a total lunar eclipse of the moon, which we don won t see for another three years after this. wind gusts of 164 miles an hour? yeah, that ll blow you around.
