Cause for concern? and we ll get to the good news before we say goodbye tonight. for now, let s take the more difficult question, what concerns you about the state of our union? and the quietness of wherever you are as you reflect on the state of our country, what gives you cause for concern about where we are as a people? one of the things senator scot and i discussed was the need for proportion, for balance. where there is or has been pain , progress, and promise, all three warrant attention, but in what order and what proportion? and no doubt, each of us has our own personal battles to wage, an illness, a sick family member , financial concerns, the loss of a job. those concerns are real, and they rightfully occupy our time and attention, but i m thinking more generally, as a people, as a country, what gives us reason for pause and what concerns me
Same hymnal and lately that s been a problem. specifically, joe manchin has been a problem and that has made many in the media and some on the left very animated. sometimes i wonder if the media and some on the left know what state joe manchin represents. it s west virginia. the same west virginia that voted for donald trump twice with almost 70% of the vote. the same west virginia that is voted for the republican candidate for president and every presidential race this century. democrats have won in west virginia before. michael duchakas actually beat george h. w. bush in west virginia in 1992 and bill clinton won in west virginia twice so west virginia does know how to vote for democrats. they just haven t been doing it much, lately. west virginia is a republican state now. all three members of the house of representatives from west virginia are republicans. the west virginia state house and state senate are controlled
