Today thousands marched through streets of d. C. And other american cities like phoenix, miami, and atlanta. The protesters united against the gops sustained attacks on Voting Rights. Made possible by State Legislatures in gop control. Today new president of the aflcio, the largest federation of unions in the united states spoke to Nbc News onto shrines of a rally in phoenix. We are concerned about what were seeing in terms of Voter Suppression all across this country. And really, in my opinion, the action is out in the community and on the ground. And so thats why i wanted to be here in Phoenix Today because these activists, theyre ready to march, theyre ready to mobilize, educate, register voters. And we want to do whatever we can as a Labor Movement to be good partners on the ground to make that happen. You know, covid happened and then everyone is in the conference mood. This weekend, there was a second 2021 cpac, short for conservative political action conference. This one in dallas featuring the usual suspects, republican politicians for aspirations for higher office and disgraced expresident Donald Trump. It was all about what you would expect, i would say, politicians posing falsehoods like the big lie, the 2020 election was stolen from trump. The republicanled house and the republicanled senate in texas, theyre trying to pass legislation that would make It T significantly harder to vote in texas in a State where it is e already not that easy to vote.
