Mound Bayou, Mississippi is a historic all-Black town founded in 1887 by formerly enslaved Black people who created a thriving haven for thousands of Black Americans during the Jim Crow era.
Sounds of bagpipes filled Lake Shore Funeral Home Friday morning as hundreds paid their respects to fallen Abbott volunteer firefighter Horace ‘Dan’ Wright.
Dan Wright, 71, was on the scene of an accident on I-35 just south of the new Main Street Market in West. As crews were repositioning a fire truck, Wright fell and was struck by the truck.
