The city of Murfreesboro recently launched a project to teach the community of prominent figures behind the names of parks, roads, bridges and memorials.
While many residents may know the Doug Young Public Safety Training Center off New Salem Highway is named after the former vice mayor and councilman, other names are less notable, especially to newcomers.
Who was John Bragg whose name resides on a highway to Woodbury? What did Baxter Ertis Hobgood do before his name appeared on a Murfreesboro elementary school? Who is behind the name on Vaughn Street and where is it?
