IDABEL, Okla. McCurtain County residents expressed their frustrations Wednesday about what they perceive is a lack of action regarding county officials who allegedly made violent, racist comments on an audio recording.
For the past two months, some residents have called for the resignation of those allegedly on the audio recording, making remarks about lynching Black people and killing two newspaper reporters, but Sheriff Kevin Clardy refused.
IDABEL, Okla. - A large group of citizens gathered Wednesday in McCurtain County to voice concerns about some disturbing comments reportedly made by local government officials.
For the first time Wednesday, June 7, McCurtain County residents got to meet in-person with their state representative, Eddie Dempsey, since several county leaders, including the sheriff, were recorded making remarks about lynching Black people and killing two newspaper reporters.
