MILFORD It was a quiet Memorial Day afternoon at Gulf Beach in Milford, with cloudy skies looming over the shore.
The holiday a day in recognition of military members who lost their lives as they served often also calls to mind sun-soaked time outdoors with family and friends, a nod to the days of warm weather to follow in the summer. But coming off a rainy weekend, there weren’t many people out and about on the shelly sand.
Valerie Seely, a Milford resident and a caregiver, sat at a picnic table by Goodies Restaurant with Derby resident Ted Witek. They were watching the boats, she said.
