amounts of snow generally averaging around two inches, a little bit less to the north and the south. there s also a chance of snow for parts of the area on saturday. we ll talk about that storm, too a little bit later. crews say they re ready to role when the first flakes start falling. they were pretreating the roads early this afternoon. that s where nbc randy gyllenhaal is live. this is the most snow of the season for most of the road crews. reporter: in the past hour or so, penn dot called in the reinforcement. contractors will be helping out, making a total of 300 trucks salting the roads into the overnight hours. it s not going to be the biggest storm of the system, but it s a good reminder for folks at home to start the snow and ice checklist. ahead of the first real taste of winter, penn dot crews spent the past 24 hours brining local roads. when the first flakes start falling they ll issue a callout of 180 state trucks and 130 contractors on major state roads.
