QUIOGUE, NY An iconic estate with a rich history has hit the market for $13 million in Quiogue.
Meadowcroft, the last remaining Long Island home by renowned architect and House & Garden magazine founder Wilson Eyre, is represented by Enzo Morabito of Douglas Elliman.
The circa-1904 arts and crafts-style estate, located at 771 Montauk Highway, was built by Eyre just past the turn of the century for industrialist Theodore Conklin, Douglas Elliman said. Conklin s grandson, Ted, a former mayor of Westhampton Beach, was born at the family home; his great-grandson, Ted Conklin, now owns the American Hotel in Sag Harbor. Five generations of the Conklin family gathered and sailed at the mansion, sited on Quantuck Bay, before selling it in 1989, Douglas Elliman said.
