The domestic market closed flat after hitting record highs with S&P BSE Sensex reaching 75,636 and Nifty50 at 23,026. Buying was seen in public sector stocks while selling was seen in other sectors.
Sensex advanced 267 points while Nifty closed higher for the fifth day in a row on Wednesday. Sectorally, buying was seen in utilities, energy, FMCG and realty while metal, banks, consumer durables and oil & gas stocks saw selling pressure. PNC Infratech rose over 13% to hit a fresh record high.
Sensex snapped 3-day upmove to close in the red on Tuesday. Nifty, on the other hand, settled with gains of 27 points. Utilities, public sector, power and metal space saw buying action, while selling was seen in banks, auto, IT and FMCG stocks. Rail Vikas Nigam and Poly Medicure hit record highs.
