Almost none of the best professional cyclocross racers in the Western Hemisphere had been to Missoula before coming to town for the Pan-American Championship races this past weekend. But they seem to universally agree they ll be back.
At the Pan-American Cyclocross Championships in Missoula this Saturday and Sunday, the best riders in the Western Hemisphere will take on a challenging course of grass, dirt and mud at Lindborg-Cregg Memorial Field. Sitting one notch below the annual Cyclocross World Championships, this weekend’s Pan-Ams race is one of the highest-level sporting events of any kind Missoula has ever hosted.
The top mountain bikers from the United States converged at Bear Creek Mountain in Pennsylvania this week for the 2023 USA Cycling cross-country national championships.
A technical, rocky course gree.
Twelve minutes was all it took for Aida Linton to claim her first stars-and-stripes jersey in short-track Thursday morning at U.S. Cross-Country Mountain Bike National Championships. But the 14-year-old Missoulian riding for Team Stampede wasn t done yet.
"This is one of the biggest cross-country mountain bike races of the year in the country," said Alex Gallego, director of Team Stampede, a Missoula youth cycling development program.
