Reaching the top of Everest is considered a shining feat for mountaineers around the globe
Nepal has banned two Indian climbers and their team leader for six years from mountaineering in the country after an investigation found they had faked their 2016 climb up Mt Everest.
Narender Singh Yadav and Seema Rani Goswami s climb was certified by the tourism department at the time.
The action against them came when they failed to produce any evidence after Mr Yadav was nominated for an award.
Mr Yadav and Ms Goswami are yet to comment on Wednesday s announcement. ....

KATHMANDU: Nepal has banned two Indian climbers and their team leader from carrying out any mountaineering expeditions in the country for six years after a probe found that they faked their Mt Everest summit in 2016, according to a media report on Thursday.
Indian nationals Narender Singh Yadav and Seema Rani Goswami received expedition certificates during the spring season of 2016 without successfully climbing the world s highest mountain, the Himalayan Times reported, quoting a spokesperson of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. ....

Indian mountaineers say that in addition to the steps being taken by Nepal to prevent false climb claims, the Indian government also needs to take strong measures against errant climbers.
India’s mountaineering fraternity hung its head in shame earlier this week as news emerged of Nepal imposing a
10-year ban on two Indian climbers for submitting false claims to have summited the world’s highest peak.
Narendra Singh Yadav and Seema Rani Goswami, both from Haryana, claimed to have made it to the top of Mount Everest in 2016. They were even presented with certificates for their climb by the Nepal authorities. ....
