Deschutes County Road Dept. crews will be installing highway warning systems in the Terrebonne area this week. Installation of radar detection signs will be occurring at NW Lower Bridge Way between NW 12th Street and NW 31st Street. Road users should anticipate single lane closures facilitated by flaggers and delays of up to 20 minutes during work hours. Work hours are 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). Also, Installation of irrigation pipe will be occurring on NE 33rd Street between O'neill Highway and NE Smith Rock Way near Terrebonne. NE 33rd Street between O'Neil Highway and NE Smith Rock Way will be closed to through-traffic from approximately January 19 through January 28. A designated detour route is in place via O'Neil Highway, NW Lone Pine Road and NW Smith Rock Way. Access for residents on NE 33rd Street will be maintained during construction.
A 31-year-old Redmond woman was rescued after injuring herself Sunday on the Tangent Trail between Swampy Lakes Snow Park and Virginia Meissner Snow Park. About 11:34 a.m., Deschutes County Dispatch received a 911 call and a deputy made phone contact with the reporting person, who informed the Deputy that the injured female would need assistance to get out to the parking lot at Swampy Lakes Snow Park. Six Search and Rescue volunteers and one Special Services Deputy responded to the call. The six volunteers were able to make their way to the patient using snow shoes, arriving at approximately 12:30 PM. Members of the medical team assessed the females physical condition and provided aid, including placing her into a litter and carrying her to the highway where she was assisted into a personal vehicle. The female stated she did not need any further assistance and would seek her own medical care.
