A man accused of raping several women in the 90s believes his case should be thrown out.
Leroy Smith said he’s a tribal citizen and his case should be dismissed after the Supreme Court decision on tribal jurisdiction. Monday’s hearing was to see if state could move forward with a trial.
Accused serial rapist Leroy Smith did not comment to News on 6 as he walked out of the courtroom. His attorneys said they consider the day a win.
“The real issue is whether or not we are in the right court. And, for the second time, a judge has tried the law as it is written to the facts as presented and drawn the same conclusion,” said Smith’s attorney MJ Denman.

Family Awaits Justice As Suspected Serial Rapist Case Sits In Limbo
The family of a woman who was raped by suspected serial rapist Leroy Smith, wants Smith to be tried, even though the crimes happened many years ago.
The case has been in limbo based on the recent Supreme Court ruling on tribal jurisdiction. A hearing is set next week, to see if the trial can move forward. Our mother deserves justice as well as all the other woman involved, said Tammy Templeton.
Templeton and her sisters, Dedra and Jamie, say their mother, Pamela Clark, was the strongest women they knew. She was resilient even after she was raped in the 90’s. Pamela died from cancer in 2015.
