Power trip caused electricity supply disruption to several areas in Skudai


JOHOR BARU: A power trip at the Skudai Main Inlet Substation (PMU) disrupted electricity supply to 22,968 account holders in several areas in Skudai here.
Johor Works, Transportation and Infrastructure committee chairman Solihan Badri said those in Taman Universiti, Taman Mutiara Rini, Taman Skudai Indah, Taman Sri Orkid and Taman Harmoni began experiencing disrupted power supply from 12.38pm on Saturday (April 3).
“The power trip at the PMU caused the loss of about 21 megawatts of electricity supplied to the 175 substations that were powering 22,968 accounts.
“The source of the trip is still being investigated, ” he said in a statement on Sunday (April 4).
He added that Tenaga Nasional Bhd took the necessary action to restore the power supply in stages, first to 43% of the affected users within the first three hours through a power grid. ....

Marine police seize RM80,000 worth of fire crackers in Johor | Malaysia

JOHOR BARU, Jan 24  The Region Two Marine Police Force (PPM) seized various types of firecrackers, estimated to be worth RM80,000, in a raid, codenamed “Ops Benteng-Covid Landai” at a house in Taman Skudai Indah 2, here, yesterday.
Its commander ACP Muhd Zailani Abdullah said a 51-year-old man, who is the house owner, was arrested in the raid which was conducted at about 4.30pm.
He said the raid was conducted following a tip-off and the fire crackers were believed to be distributed to the markets for the Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration.
The seizure involved 43 boxes containing various types of firecrackers in a lorry that was parked in front of the house, and 17 more boxes of firecrackers which were found in the garage of the house, he said in a statement today. Bernama ....
