PETALING JAYA: Following a recent surge in new Covid-19 cases, the Melaka Islamic Department (Maim) has announced that SOPs will be tightened for the maintenance of mosques and suraus in the state.
Maim director Datuk Che Sukri Che Mat said changes to the SOPS will take effect on Tuesday (May 4), adding that this includes qiamullail , which was only allowed to be performed in mosques.
In a statement Monday (May 3), Che Sukri said any form of public feasting events such as breaking fast and sahur are no longer allowed to be held in surau.
Breaking fast and sahur, as well as the traditional moreh event, is allowed to be held in mosques, only if the food is packaged in individual packs and not prepared in a buffet style.
