Iowa City found to be safer for pedestrians compared to state, national averages

A recently released city report shows that Iowa City has significantly fewer pedestrian and vehicle collisions than state and national averages. The report, which was released in the Sept. 28 Iowa City City Council information packet, showed that from 2017-21, Iowa City had an average of 0.27 pedestrian deaths per 100,000 population. UI political student groups navigate tension on campus

Hundreds protest, attend lecture of conservative commentator Matt Walsh at UI

Over 200 Iowa City community members protested conservative commentator Matt Walsh during his visit to the University of Iowa campus inside and outside the Iowa Memorial Union on Wednesday.  Walsh screened his documentary, “What is a Woman?,” to over 150 people in the Iowa Theatre inside the IMU. The documentary highlighted conservative commentary around transgender.
