State Track began Thursday and continues Friday. On the boys side Wapsie Valley leads Class 1A with 19 points as Aiden Shannon was 2nd in the 3,200 meter run and the 4x800 team took 3rd place, in Class 2A Columbus has 6 points and is in 11th and in Class 4A Cedar Falls tied for 3rd place with 18 .
Wednesday the State Cross Country Qualifying Meet was held in Decorah and both Waverly-Shell Rock teams fell painstakingly short of making State as a team. Only the top three teams qualify and Waverly-Shell Rock boys and girls both finished 4th, the boys missed State by half a second. On the boy .
Tuesday the Waverly-Shell Rock cross country teams had an historic night. Both teams won Northeast Iowa Conference Titles. The girls won their first conference crown since 1997 with Sydney Bochman winning individually. The boys won their first NEIC title since 1985 and Nick Kepford was 1st.
