The sprawling Getty Center museum campus in Brentwood reopened at limited capacity on May 25, one month after its sister Getty Villa complex in Pacific Palisades.

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Getty Center closed its doors last year. After a long wait, visitors are finally welcome back to a host of brand-new exhibitions that have been worth the wait. One is
. A plump French bergère by the great eighteenth-century furniture maker Georges Jacob is the focus of the exhibition. The seat is a great example of the neoclassical era’s attention to the combination of comfort and style. The meticulously crafted chair has managed to survive almost unaltered for 250 years. The Getty Center reopened on May 25, and visitors must reserve a ticket here.

The sprawling Getty Center museum campus in Brentwood will reopen at limited capacity today, one month after its sister Getty Villa complex in Pacific Palisades.
As well as all the familiar highlights of the museum s collections, gardens, architecture and vistas, we will be featuring our newly acquired painting of Lucretia by Artemisia Gentileschi, and special exhibits of photography and other media. With both the Villa and Center opening, the staff are excited to welcome visitors back to their Getty.
To meet COVID-19 restrictions, free advance reservations will be required, with a limited number of spots being offered each day. Some galleries that are too small to allow for social distancing will remain closed, and one-way pathways will be established in galleries and gardens. The Getty Library will remain closed.
