Central asia where he should be kind of the king of the roost. theer are the former former soviet states, uzbekistan and here you re meeting with xi and modi. and people are either being very neutral, he didn t get anything out of president xi. and they re actually challenging. and you also had president xi decide to make his first stop outside of china, not directly to this meeting in uzbekistan, he went to kazakhstan. and the kazakhstan is the one central asia state, the biggest and the richest and stood up and the president sat there at a table next to putin an said i m not recognizing crimea and i m not recognizing these new break aaway republics. so putin is having a problem with his stature. and i think that what we re seeing this week is really the diminishing power of president putin play out in living color.

As cnn s matthew chance reports. putin s confidence is curious considering his release losses on the ground in ukraine have led to a spike in criticism back home from some rather unexpected places. reporter: ukraine s gain set to dramatic music by their own troops increasing putin s loss. the russia stunning military setbacks stirring broad public criticism at home which shocked and voicing anger and dozens of elected local russian politicians signing an official petition. authored by this local counselor, demanding president putin be impeached. the russians have offered to pay his fines to speak out and hide him from the kremlin tried to put him in jail. the russian army is being destroyed right now.
