The surface ocean temperature around the florida keys last week soared to 38 celsius. the temperatures were measured by a series of buoy located in the waters off manatee bay, in the everglades national park. that level of heat is about the same temperature as a hot tub. normally around this time of year it would be aroud 23 31 celsius. and today we got another record, the global average for the oceans, is higher than its ever been 21 celsius in august, which is unusual. if you look at this chart, it shows the average ocean temperatures since 1979. the red line, this year s data. the grey lines show previous years. and you will see it is an upward curve it is getting ever warmer, but those previous peaks were in march, at the end of the summer in the southern hemishphere. and the experts say they are worried. the oceans are vital to help regulate our climate, and the evaporation you have the more moisture you have in the air, which can turbo charge some of the worlds weather patterns.
