In Germany, according to the late Bayo Oguntuase, my beloved teacher, a drink-place is called âbeer gardenâ. âBeer parlourââwhich is Regionalized Englishâis the local fad in Nigeria. The formal/standard (universal) entry is âpubâ with variants like âtavernâ, âbarâ and âsaloonâ (also âsaloon barâ or âlounge barâ). Please it is never âsalonâ, which is another thing entirely.
