The Society of Justice & Equality for the People of Sugar Land will get $10,000 in funding from the Honeyland Fund, the philanthropic branch of a Black cultural festival that launched last year.
The gravesite is the central point of the site, and the school district says it plans to work with descendants to design markers once individuals buried there are identified.
