5 bakers, 1,200 hours: Meet the Arizonans who helped bake 2020 s best gingerbread house Tirion Morris, Arizona Republic
3,000 miniature bricks. 500 Christmas tree branches. 10 sugar people. Two sugar animals. 1,200 hours. That s what it took for a team of Arizona and California-based bakers to win the 2020 National Gingerbread House Competition.
The team called the Merry Mischief Bakers won this year s contest with their immensely detailed gingerbread storefront display titled St. Nick’s Christmas Décor Shop.
The miniature shop includes a sugar and gingerbread Santa and children, their parents, an even smaller gingerbread house village, and a sneaky cat perching in the Christmas tree. Another sugar figurine peaks in through the window looking for Santa only to see the cat, with a tiny sugar expression of surprise.
