gunman. but a lot of people, when the doors opened on that train, a lot of people ran out of that train and there was another train across the platform ran into that train, the driver realized what was going on closeds doors and took off and people at the next subway stop, when they were age to, you know, eventually get there, a bunch of the people said hey, wait a minute, i have been hit. yeah. this is the interesting thing about the new york subway. when there is a major stop like this platform that people can walk across to the other side. that s not the case for every subway stop. it is for this one because it is a major stop. the question is, of course, you see people walking down those subway stairs. the question is did the gunman choose this particular stop because he could inflict the greatest damage because there would have been so many people crossing over from side to side. that is a question of course investigators need to know. it all has to do with motive.
via executive order. and this adds to this incident here and crime in the subways has really surged as the city comes out of the pandemic. there s a real sort of sense of unease. i ve lived in new york a long time and for the first time in maybe decades, you start to feel a little bit wary about being on the subway. certainly it s not compared to the early 90s or 80s, or 70s, but more than it was. that s the challenge the mayor faces. this neighborhood, sunset park, it s a heavily latino and asian neighborhood. it s working and middle class. about a 25-minute commute into downtown brooklyn or the city. it s life blood of new york. doesn t get the headlines that manhattan does, but this is who makes up people who live here and certainly a scene of real terror today, lockdown schools across the region and had people running up the subway stairs to safety in the streets. i don t want to gloss over or let the hours that have passed
in new york, are killed from random bullets that are flying around. women who get pushed on subway stairs and being know that i had. the individual donors who send money to black lives matter wanted reform and help to make their lives better, not to make the founders rich, living in mansions. it is an insult to everyone who has contributed to that organization that cares about the quality of the lives that people of color and women in particular, to then say that she is the one that has got the problem. and this kind of a purchase, what it really means. emily: in addition to that, there is that corrupt amplification of this false narrative that the report and the coverage of these transactions somehow equated to you again racist and white supremacist and misogynistic and the like, when we are learning
