Join the Student Friends of the Princeton University Library for a showcase of highlights from the Scheide Library led by Eric White, Scheide Librarian & Assistant University Librarian for Special Collections, Rare Books & Manuscripts. The Scheide Library is one of the foremost collections of rare books in the entire world. Housed in Firestone Library on C Floor, this one-of-a-kind library belonged to William H. Scheide, a 1936 Princeton alumnus who left an extraordinary collection of more than 2,500 rare printed books and manuscripts (valued at more than $300 million) to Princeton, the largest gift in the University’s history. Due to limited capacity, this event will only be open to Student Friends of Princeton University Library and prospective members. Registration will be required. An early dinner at a local Princeton restaurant following the showcase is included. A separate communication will be sent to registrants to confirm details.
Princeton seniors Shaun Cason and Anna Allport and University of Oxford student Isabelle (Izzy) Stuart have been named recipients of the Daniel M. Sachs Class of 1960 Graduating Scholarship, one of Princeton University’s highest awards.
Please join the Student Friends of the Princeton University Library for our third event of the semester, a tour of the Seeley G. Mudd Manuscript Library's current exhibit, “Princeton 275,” with exhibition curators April Armstrong and Rosalba Varallo Recchia. This exhibit commemorates the 275th anniversary of the founding of Princeton University through unique historical materials from Princeton's archives, including the original charter of the College of New Jersey from 1746 and 1748. The exhibition focuses on how the only constant in the history of this university is change. To learn more about the exhibit, click here. This tour will take place in the Seeley G. Mudd Manuscript Library, and the group will meet in the building's lobby. Twelve spots are available for this event for members of the Student Friends, and a waitlist will be enabled. The tour will be followed by an optional lunch in town from 12:15 - 1:45pm (RSVPs for lunch will be handled separately).
