'People need outlets': Washington's gym closure's effect on stress, anxiety

People need outlets : Washington s gym closures effect on stress, anxiety Under Gov. Jay Inslee’s “Healthy Washington: Roadmap to Recovery” plan, only appointment-based training with one client per 500 square feet is allowed at gyms. Author: Mark Hanrahan Updated: 12:20 PM PST January 25, 2021 SPOKANE, Wash. In east central Spokane, Dūrātus Strength & Conditioning is slowing starting to welcome members back. In the last 10 months, they, along with gyms across the state, have been forced to close their doors twice and were just recently allowed to re-open at a limited capacity. “Certainly, a year of adversity,” Dūrātus owner Keven Longmeier said. “A year where we’ve had to adapt in a lot of ways.”

'We are essential': Spokane-area small gym owners form coalition to reopen

We are essential : Spokane-area small gym owners form coalition to reopen The Stronger Together Coalition is a group of small fitness facility owners adamant to work with Washington state s government to reopen. Author: Morgan Trau (KREM) Updated: 7:47 AM PST December 21, 2020 SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash Spokane-area gym owners are coming together to argue they are an essential business that should not be shut down.  Washington Gov. Jay Inslee has prohibited indoor operations for fitness facilities and gyms through at least Jan. 4. The restrictions hurt smaller operations such as Jaunessa Walsh s Farmgirlfit. When the second mandated closure came down, it felt really like being punched in the gut, Walsh said. I s very much been a roller coaster of emotions since March.
