Official government sources here said though that this wasn’t a straightforward case of coming in with infected people and that all members of the delegation were reported negative by Covid tests carried out 48 hours before they embarked on the May 3-6 visit to the UK.
The 4-member delegation, including Jaishankar and, went into self-isolation after the minister was informed by UK authorities of possible exposure to the virus. All members were tested after they landed in London. As he himself announced in a tweet, Jaishankar participated virtually in what was the first physical meeting of the G7 foreign ministers in 2 years. India was at the meeting as a special invitee. Jaishankar himself was not among the 2 said to have tested positive.
