Now after 40 years, the talented guitarist is retiring from teaching. Being the son of fiddle legend, Johnny Gimble, Dick fell in love with music and began playing guitar at 14. “I had been playing in the band at Midway High School ever since seventh grade or something, he said. But I wanted to play guitar, and he [Dick s father, Johnny] started giving me lessons and then I began playing the upright bass and that’s when I started to play gigs.”
