Middle Point Landfill dates back to the late 1980s and is now owned by Republic Services, a Phoenix-based publicly traded corporation. The landfill has a TDEC permit for a disposal area of 207.3 acres, and Republic Services seeks to add 99.45 acres for a total of 306.75 acres. Republic Services reported in 2019 that Middle Point Landfill off Jefferson and Lebanon pikes accepted trash from the 34 counties in the fast-growing Middle Tennessee region.
